Belgian Harpist and Soprano Nadia Tjahja began studying the harp at the age of 5 with Mariska Pool in Hoofddorp. She has studied with Erika Waardenburg and Giselle Boeters but is currently studying with Masumi Nagasawa in Amsterdam.
After having obtained her ABRSM grade 8 with distinction in 2005, she was the first and youngest harpist in The Netherlands to achieve the DipABRSM Performing at the age of 17.
Over the years she has performed at several festivals, concerts and competitions all over the world, but is currently focusing on obtaining the LRSM Performing with Harp and the DipABRSM Teaching with Harp.

Nadia was selected to enter the Centre for Young Musicians in The Hague, The Netherlands in 2008 where she studied voice with opera performer Michelle Mallinger and Russell Medley. Nadia decided this year to continue her studies with Michelle Mallinger and specialize primarily in opera then musical theatre.

Besides harp and voice, Nadia has an ABRSM grade 6 piano, which she plays recreationally. She occasionally accompanies singers and choirs at performances.

Nadia is a terrible composer.

Currently, Nadia is studying English and European Laws at the University of Essex. She is an active member of the Classical Music Society where she leads the Close Harmony Choir and gives singing and harp lessons. Nadia has recently been elected Music Convener for the Students’ Union Societies Guild, where she represents the views of the Music Societies to the Guild.

Nadia was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands but is currently residing in Colchester, United Kingdom.

The 20 year old Belgian Harpist and Soprano Nadia Tjahja started having singing lessons with Michelle Mallinger at the Centre for Young Musicians in The Hague in 2008. After having obtained her DipABRSM Performing in Harp, she is currently preparing to do ABRSM Grade 7 Theory and Grade 8 Voice.
